New transfer

Appuma appuma?  (I will have to ask for the translation for that one)

This week was some how long.  I think it was a mix of Kumasi trip, and last week of the transfer, but it was long.  Everyone was just waiting for Saturday night to learn transfer news.  Kumasi was cool.  I went to the culture center and bought those nativities.  Below is a picture of one.  I left it in the mission home and someone will bring it down for me and I will try to mail it to you.  After there, we went to print some pictures and to eat at KFC.  Could be my last time to eat there.  The specialized training was cool.  They talked about goal setting and using our planners well and area book.  It was fun.  We got to sleep in the mission home Monday night.  We got to sleep with A/C and use the water heater to shower.  It was amazing.  I just felt my body relax.

Thanks to his mom for sharing the picture
This week,  Elder Naawu and I worked hard contacting, but everyone was sick or busy.  One woman asked if we were Jehovah's Witness and we said no and she said that they are all the same anyway.  She didn't have time for us to share.  We tried to follow up with others but didn't have a lot of success.  This week, Elder Naawu is finished with training so we can go out at 10 again.  Hopefully we will have more luck at the earlier time when people are not asleep.

I wasn't upset about anything about the article you sent Ike.  He was telling us about it and I said, "she didn't send me anything like that"  they knew I was joking.  We were all laughing about it.  But I think that he is now working on his papers and will send them soon.  (I had sent an article on finding joy through missionary work to the branch mission leader, Ike.  He told me that he shared it in the meeting with the other elders and that Elder Ashby was "hurt small" that I hadn't shared it with him.)

Transfer news came on Saturday.  I am released as district leader.  I got the official call on Sunday.  Elder Hill is the new district leader.  I will give my last instruction on Tuesday and then it will be all his.  It was fun to be DL but I am glad it is finished.  I learned a lot from it.  Elder Brandt is leaving the area.  He will go to Ajisu in UST,area in Kumasi.  UST stands for University of Science and Technology.  It is the big university in Kumasi.  I will be the only white guy in the apartment for the first time on mission.  Elder Ike (I-kee) will be with stake missionary, so if they only speak twi, we might kill them. This is another 8 week transfer because of the new MTC policy where native language speakers are in for 3 weeks not 2.

Tonight we will have an activity with Ike before Brandt goes.

I hope you all have a great week. Enjoy your school and work and fishing and snow and etc.
I love you much.
love,
Elder Warner Ashby
