last week here

Hey every one,
I am finally here.  I came from the post office trying to mail the nativities home.  It took a while for them to put the information in the computer.  There is 2 boxes.  Each one has a nativity set.  I also put in a letter and instructions to assemble the nativities because I know that you all might find it hard.  The box with the letters also has a pin drive with my pictures from the last 6 months.  It is in a match box.  Elder Snow said that his things arrived about 2 week after sent, so maybe it will be there about that time.  Who knows.

Anyway.  This week was interesting.  Contacting was extremely slow.  We couldn't find anyone until the end of the week.  This week we are going to try to work hard to find this week.  I have been told that the elders will be in a threesome when I leave for a few days, so I hope it doesn't do anything to the area.  On Wednesday, we were going to the church for our coordination meeting and we passed two kids fishing in a small stream.  We asked if they had caught anything and they surprised us by showing us a small bag full of 2 inch fish.  They were using a 3 foot stick and string with a hook and worm and had been there for a couple hours.  We asked if we could try.  We got a lot of bites but couldn't yank anything out. It was fun though.  They will take the fish home and cook it with fufu or bonku.  I was impressed.  I always see kids fishing in the small streams here but I never thought there was any fish who would bite.

This is my final week here in Obuasi.  I have spent over half of my mission in Obuasi.  I never thought I would get to come back here but I have enjoyed.  I have learned a lot and grown a lot here.  Even though the area is incredibly small and the branch needs a ton of work, I have really enjoyed being here.  After I finished training Elder Lindley,  I thought I would get transfered to another area as district leader.  I was waiting for his call and when it came and he said I was staying and training again,  I thought I might die.  I had already contacted through a good portion or most of the area, and I had to do it again with another new missionary.  Somehow I made it through the next 3 months.  And then president calls me and tells me that I will finish my stay in Ghana here in Asonkore,  I thought, great, another month of having to work here in the smallest area I have had.  But we managed to keep going.  Now I am going to leave.  This has been a great area to be in and I am grateful for the opportunity to serve here.

As for the microwave,  about a year ago in Asuoyeboa, an elder cooked his fork inside and blew the glass.  That is why the sign.  The buttons have stopped working and my companion is going to try to get it fixed.  I would have earlier, but the price to fix it might be more than the amount I bought it, so I didn't do much with it.  It was cool though.  (We asked about the cardboard on the microwave in the picture he sent last week.  We think it just needs to go in the garbage. Sounds like a dangerous thing to me.)

I don't know what my travel plans are, but I think I will got to the mission home next Monday.  I don't know if I will be able to back and forth next week because I am not sure when I can email.

Have a great week.  Love you all.  I hope you get better soon.  Enjoy school and work.
Love, Elder Warner Ashby
