Hey everybody,
I will answer your
questions before I talk about my week. We have been trying to get a
member of Branch 3 to kill a cat (I don't know if it is his or a stray)
but Elder Kabemba hasn't let us know anything yet.
(We asked in our email where you get cats from, purchase them or stray) Chickens are sold in
the market and plucking the feathers are pretty easy. Just pour hot
water on it and they come right out. Grass cutter is a bush animal and
is not eaten anymore (though I hear it is good). Bush meat spreads
Ebola I guess. I have not eaten any insects or found any clippers.
(We also asked him about some of the other meats he has eaten and if he found some hair clippers) The
largest snake I have seen was that smashed one I sent.
(see his smashed green mamba picture several posts back) I have seen one
small snake. It was tiny, in the gutter somewhere. A special interview
is for someone that has had chastity problems, had or sponsored an
abortion, on probation and some other things that are written in the PMG
(Preach My Gospel)
that I can't remember now.
This week was dull. It was
really hot and dry for the first half of the week, and then it rained
for the first time in over a month and knocked down the dust, and put a
whole lot of humidity in the air. Bleh. I have been beyond exhausted
it felt like this week. It was hard to get out of bed and stay focused
in lessons. Both Schraedel and I were dying this week, and the heat
wasn't helping. One of our investigators that we were hoping to baptize
yesterday got work and disappeared for the week. We found him
on Saturday
on our way to one of the baptisms we had for another guy. We finished
teaching commandments and he agreed to come early to church to interview
for his baptism. Brother Kwardro was supposed to baptize
on Saturday
but no one, not even the branch presidency showed up. There was a
funeral in another branch that everyone went to. President Nii said he
would send a counselor to preside but no one came. Kwardro was
dissapointed. He had been waiting for 2 months for this, but he took it
well. We said it would come on the next day. He was ok, but I was
pretty upset at the branch. Ghanians love funerals too much. They will
drop anything, even
Sunday
church for a funeral even if they don't know the guy. But we had our 2
baptisms yesterday and achieved our zone goal for the month. I got to
baptize them plus 2 girls that Orji and Carpenter had.

I tried a new food
on Tuesday.
Kenke. It was nasty. It looked like bonku (which is already gross,
but edible) that had sat out in the sun for a week. Anyway,
on Wednesday,
I was not feeling well. I was nauseous and had a sudden pinch in my
back from the night sleep I had, I think. I was able to go out in the
afternoon, but was not energized. We started going one way but got
turned around to give a blessing to a recent convert who was sick in the
other end of our area. It was good, but a very long day.
I am glad that the scans went well and that the ice is on and the fishing is good. I love you all. Enjoy the week.
Love Elder Warner Ashby
