First day at the MTC

Elder Ashby Wrote a letter the first night at the Provo MTC on Sept. 3, 2014.  It arrived at our home today.  It was very exciting to hear from him.

My first day here has been great.  There are 6 elders and 4 sisters in my district.  I am companions with Elder Lawson.  We have one other elder going to Ghana with us.  His name is Elder Vause, and he was originally called to Sierra Leone.  The other 3 elders and the sisters are going to Jackson, Florida.

The food here is great.  Today we has fried chicken and mashed potatoes.  I got chocolate ice cream also.  It was delicious.  (he had been looking forward to the ice cream Wednesday)  Our room is about half as big as mine and has 3 bunk beds and 6 closets.  I got the bottom bunk.

Our zone leaders seem pretty cool.  They are only here until Monday, but they are fun.  I found Elder Snow and Elder Verdoni.  Elder Snow's companion never showed so he's in a 3 companionship.

So far,  I haven't been upset about leaving.  From the time I left the car, I got my name tag, and my MTC ID card, was given a small tour and taken to my classroom.  I was the only one there for a while, so I had a good talk with the teachers.  When everyone got there, we got to know each other and went to a devotional with the MTC Presidency.  Then we had dinner and a large scale role playing class where we learned how to connect with the investigator.  They had 1/3 of us new guys asking questions to the MTC mock investigators.  It was a good lesson. Then we had a tour and instruction from the zone leaders and now in our room.

I love and miss you guys so much.  Try not to worry about me.  I am doing fine.  They say after Sunday, time moves faster.  They might let us email on Friday, but otherwise P-day is on Wednesday.  Love you guys!!
                                 Love Elder Warner Ashby

P.S.  We get to go to the temple on Wednesday so I will probably go at least once.

P.S.S.  I saw Mike Hibbert in the cafeteria.  I talked with him for a second.  It was good to see someone I know.
