What's up guys,
I wrote Tanalie and Grandma today. I am hoping that I can mail this letter and the others by tomorrow, so you can get it before I fly out. On Friday we have our district service project and we were assigned both this week and last week to help restock the kitchen freezers. I spent 20-30 minutes in a 15' F freezer today. It was great. I don't know when I will feel cold again. I actually saw my breath, funny how those things are cool to me. The work wasn't much different than what I did at J and L Garden Center. Last week, I was the only guy who already knew how to work a pallet jack, so he had me move boxes into the freezers and unload them. I don't know about the other guys, but I enjoyed it.
Yesterday, we had our infield orientation. We met with all the other Elders scheduled for it and were taught how to use our planners, to set goals and how to best use the members in our lessons and fellowshipping them into the church.
I never told you guys, but we don't actually wear our suits here. The only time we do wear our suit is on Sunday, Tuesday devotional and to the temple. And anytime we meet the Branch President. So only like 3 times a week, we just wear our short sleeve shirts the rest of the time.
Everyday here feels like a week. I can't believe that we got here just a week ago and now we have 4 Days left. We got our doxi pills today and we can start taking them on Tuesday before we leave. Also, all of our visas and passports are in. I was a little worried about that, but we asked today and they said we were all good. How did you guys get our flight plan? (one of the Elders has a WiFi enable camera which uploads all pictures taken to his mom, he took a picture of their travel plan and his mom shared them with us, very cool!). Everyone else but me apparently knew I was the group flight leader. (The kid who has never flown, anywhere). I guess that is what happens when I don't read the packet fully. Oops! My responsibilities are to get everyone on the flight, on time and notify the church if anyone is missing or we get delayed. Sounds like a lot of fun. Mainly what we would do anyway, they just assigned me to it, I guess. To answer a few questions. Elder Vause is from Enterprise, Utah. We also have another Sierra Leone missionary in the other district, with Elder Snow and Verdoni, his name is Elder Wilson. I think he's from New Jersey. I have eaten Lucky Charms today, or at least the Malto Meal equivalent. They don't have any Kellogg's or General Mills here.
Thanks you again for the battleship board. I made mine this morning. (he's playing battleship with his sister through the mail) We don't get our mail till personal time in the evening at 9:30pm. I will use it after I win, I mean play our first game.
Elder Snow's mom mailed him a cake, safari party hats and plates. We had a small going away party to celebrate getting our visas. We took a picture, so maybe you will see them from his smart camera. I am kind of jealous. (He really liked Elder Snow's camera) The cake was great and the party supplies were fun.
The big picture with us and the sisters at the temple, is our district. There is a picture of us 4 Liberian elders at the temple too. (see previous post with pictures) I'm sorry for the many emails with pictures. Apparently, gmail doesn't do pictures very well. It doesn't have the memory for it or maybe it is the myldsmail.
Our district is starting to work better together. We are trying to change our attitudes to accommodate each other. I guess the other district is having a lot of problems. The Branch President asked Elder Vause and Murdock, the zone leaders to talk with them. The new elders are here. It's weird not being the new guys anymore. I feel so bad for the 3 elders and 1 sister going to Jamaica. They don't have their visas yet. I guess if they don't get them by next Thursday, they might get reassigned, for awhile. I hope that doesn't happen.
Sorry to hear about the laminator and class library card problems, Mom. I hope that machine gets fixed (Juliannah having work issues) It sounds frustrating. Have fun at school, Cordy. Enjoy your chili Verde, Dad, think about me not eating it. Just kidding. Enjoy. I love you guys a lot.
