Whoop

Sorry family and friends that this is posted late.  This is his letter from August 1, 2016.

Hello family,

ow de bodi?  (means Hello or more literally How's the body?)

This week was not really the most interesting.  The rain made things difficult.  Towards the end of the week things lightened up and the sun came out more, but the beginning of the week was wet.  On Tuesday, Elder Ikegbunen had to go to the hospital for a malaria test so we exchanged and I went with his companion to see his people.  It was cool.  He is brand new, only 3 weeks out, so I did most of the teaching.  Wednesday, it rained ALL DAY.  The rest of the week we were able to go out, but lots of our appointments failed or peoples phones were off.  We mainly visited our recent converts this week.  But on the up side, we did meet some new people who called us over and asked us to come and visit them in the future.  Some of them seemed sincere.  So maybe in the next few weeks we can get more people to teach.

On Saturday, we went to chapel cleaning.  Normal chapel cleaning doesn't really happen.  So the Quorum President asked everyone to come and do a deep clean of the chapel and then he made assignments of the various auxiliaries for cleaning.  My job and another members was to scrape the algae off the outer walls.  They were pretty green.  It was kind of fun, scraping away all day.  The chapel looked pretty good after that.

On Sunday, We confirmed the last small boy who was baptized.  Something happened to his shirt or shoes or something that made it so he couldn't come.  But yesterday he came and we got all the information from the other candidates for us to input into the computers.  We have almost finished Brother Quintons mission forms.  He just needs a passport and other medical things.

Today, Elder Ikegbunen and I went to town to buy some new shirts.  I bought a new white shirt to come home with.  I guess you will see it then.  The transfer is half over now.  I just have a few more things that I want to get and then I think I will be all ready.  I want to get a Krio bible.  There aren't any good wood carvings places around though.  Too bad.  I am giving my small suit case to Brother Quinton and a few other things to other people.

Well, I hope you all have a great week.  I know you are just enjoying your last few weeks of not having to drag my jet lagged body around with you.

Love you,
  Elder Warner Ashby
