Hello

Hey guys,

Sorry about the power outages.  You know, 4 1/2 hours can be BRUTAL.  Anyway, I hope you enjoyed the holiday.  I actually forgot until the evening time and then I just mentioned it to the other elders.  Nothing special.

The rain keeps coming.  I don't think I have seen the sun for a while.  Every so often, I see patches of blue sky, but they only last for a short while.  The rest of the time is clouds and rain.  It isn't to bad because it keeps the temperatures low.  I wear my Eccos.  My boots kill my feet and my sandals are not water proof.  Water in Allentown isn't bad because it just runs down the mountain.  I try not to get to tired, but I spend lots of evenings sitting outside.  I go and talk to Carlson a lot of the time. (His Dad asked him if he is getting trunky)

This week we met with Brother Ramsford, the man who backed out of his baptism.  His brother told us that he was regretting his decision to not get baptized.  He thought he had missed his chance.  We talked with him and assured him he would baptize at our next baptism next month.  He was happy after that.

We had a service project on Thursday.  It started in the morning, but we went after district meeting.  We arrived during the break for lunch.  (Lucky us)  After that, we helped them to fix up the road leading to the chapel.  The rain had washed it out, so we took dirt and filled it back in and cut in a gutter.  It looked nice.  The problem is this is rainy season and the loose dirt will just wash away again,  but right now it looks nice.  On Friday, we played football with another branch in the district.  they destroyed us.  It started raining not long after we started so we played in the mud and water.  Lots of slipping and falling.  It was fun though.  After we played, a few of us went to the market and bought some supplies to make fufu.  Samche was given a mortar and pestle to make it, so we spent the evening cooking and pounding fufu.  It tasted pretty good.

On Sunday, both Elder Patrick and I had to give talks in Sacrament meeting.  I gave mine on missionary work and His on priesthood.  I took a bunch of quotes about missionary work out of the end of chapter one in Preach My Gospel, and used a few scriptures.  It was really good.  After Sacrament meeting, I went up the the clerks office and helped the clerk put in baptismal records and we also opened our branch mission leaders mission papers online.  President Clawson wants potential missionaries to do online recommendations not the hard copy.  So we opened them and started filling them out.  Maybe next week we will finish.

I would like to make a request.  this is something I have been thinking about for most of my mission.  I would really like a half gallon of whole milk, chocolate milk and strawberry milk in the fridge when I come home.  I haven't had real milk ever here and if I am going to be on the toilet for worm pills, milk can't make it much worse.

      Love you all.
Love, Elder Warner Ashby
