Sorry I'm late!

Hey everyone,

Yesterday was Labor Day here and it shut down the whole country it seemed.  So when we got to the cafe, it was closed.  I should have told you before, but anytime that I don't email on Monday, I will do it on Tuesday.  Mission President has told us we can do that so it is ok.

The wedding wasn't on Sunday, it was on Saturday, but they traveled away from Freetown and didn't arrive back before church.  And I think that the funeral was also on Saturday and if it is the one I was thinking about we were trying to have baptism on Saturday but no one came.  (I had asked about his comment from last week that people were away from church because of a wedding and I remembered a time in Ghana that people had been away from church because of a funeral. This makes sense now.)

So this week was one of lots of ups and downs.  I will just go in order from Monday last.  That evening when we returned home, our landlord, Sahr Doe, who is the first councilor to the mission president, told us that they were having a send off party for the leaving couples, the Barney's and the Larstyne's.  And that we were invited.  They had a neighbor, who was a caterer, make food for the party.  It was the best food I have eaten my whole mission.  We all ate and were filled and slept happy. Even the dogs.  Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday were pretty uneventful because Wednesday was the SL Independence Day.  We couldn't find any one of our investigators to be home or answer their phone. And on Wednesday we were told if we didn't have appointments, to just stay indoors.  So those days, not much happened.  Unfortunately, Sahr Doe, our landlord was traveling to another town, Makeni, and had a major accident.  His tire blew and he mashed the brakes, flipping the car twice.  He was taken to the hospital with a neck injury.  He can move his arms but not his hands and he can feel his legs but can't move them.  This week they are moving him to a hospital in Ghana for surgery to relieve pressure in his neck which will help him recover.  His chances of recovery are pretty good from the sounds of things.  We have been trying to help around the house with his children while his wife is with him.  Thankfully our investigator, the woman from England, has moved into the house because of problems where she was living, to be a tutor to the youngest and she has been able to help keep an eye on them.

Then the rest of the week, we have been teaching some of our investigators who we met last week or two.  Geniba will hopefully be baptized in a few weeks as well as some in the other branches.

I hope you all have a great week.  I look forward to talking to you on Sunday

Love you, Elder Warner Ashby

PS. I am going to try the German pancakes this week.  I just need to buy flour.  I will let you know how it goes.  (He will get to try out his oven!)

The princess bed has returned.
The mosquitos are coming so we put up our nets.

                                                            The tag:  Past to Present
I was going through my camera looking at old pictures and I found this one.
iIt is a pic of my tag a day or two in the MTC.  I snapped another one to show what it looked like now.
