Movie star

Hey guys,

I am glad the week was good but long.

For Mothers Day, I will have to call.  We don't have a cafe close to our house and none of them have headsets or cameras.  Plus they are slow.  So please get some phone cards because calling International here is expensive.  Both Samche and I have phones so that is not a problem.

For the ocean, we are kind of far from it. We can see it if we stand on a mountain in one of our areas.  It is about 30 minute drive to it.  I think.

Anyway, this week was pretty cool.  We met with some new people this week that came to Kossoh Town last week.  We taught one of them who is friends with a recent convert and his brother joined us.  They lost their parents when they were young during the civil war, so they have raised each other.  We talked about how all of us are family with God and that He wants us to all to be together.  We met another man who found the church in a strange way.  One Sunday about a month ago, he was going to his church, but it was far and he was late.  So he went to a closer church, but they were out for a program. then he thought of LDS close by, so he decided to give it a try.  He also came the next week too, where we met him and then came and taught him.  He had lots of questions about Joseph Smith and other church teachings.

A few days ago, a film crew asked our land lord if they could shoot part of their film in the compound.  He agreed and they came the next day.  We were watching them film part of it and one of them asked me if I could help them film a part of it.  I agreed and they told me my part was to be a business partner with one guy. They told me what to say.  It lasted about a minute.  I think I was only chosen because they wanted a white guy in the movie.  But now I have my 15 minutes of SL fame.

On Sunday, I gave a talk in the Grafton Sacrament meeting.  It was on agency.  I used examples from President Uchdorf's priesthood talk last October about Daniel choosing to follow the Lord even though it was unpopular.  It went well.  Half the congregation was out because of a member's wedding, but it was all good.

I found a paper for an old missionary that was here when it closed.  It was in a box with some old planners.  It was a directory for the mission.  Our district was a whole zone and our area is 3/4 of that zone.  We need a lot more missionaries to refill the mission.  (the new incoming missionaries will arrive at the MTC May 12th that will add a bunch more)

I hope that you all have a great week.  Enjoy school and work.  Summer is coming.

Love you all,
   Elder Warner Ashby
