It has happened

Hey everyone,
This week was pretty good.  I got another call from President Cosgrave this week.  This time, he wants me to be District Leader here in Obuasi.  Elder Mkandla will be leaving and Norty-annan will be training.  I will be the oldest in the apartment by about 9 months.  It will be full of greenies.  District leader will be cool.  I figured it would happen soon.  I was surprised to make it this long. (surprised but not disappointed).  There will be 3 companionships in the district.  I will have to go on exchanges with them and collect numbers and do district meetings.  The district meetings are the only thing I am nervous about.  But I think it will be a good experience.  Tomorrow I will have to go to Kumasi for district leader training.  Things like being accountable and how to give a baptism interview.

This week we got called over by a man who had met missionaries long ago, because he had a Book of Mormon and he wanted us to tell him more about it.  But he told us that he didn't want us to talk about God, Jesus, or the Bible, because he didn't trust them, but he trusted the Book of Mormon. It took a little bit to get him to stop talking long enough to explain that the Book of Mormon is all about Christ and then we gave him some small chastisement for not trusting God, some encouragement to come back and powerful testimony.  It was a cool lesson.  He was the first person I have met that didn't like God.

Brother Kwame came to church again for the first time in over a month.  He is also building friendships with the other young single adults in the branch.  They are encouraging him to come every week.  I think with more people than us encouraging him, we can baptize him in a few weeks.

Today we will do the fireside for the branch.  I got the date wrong but we will do it today.  We will be doing a Plan of Salvation activity where we will take groups and guide them to different rooms where we will have different stages of the plan.  I will be over Spirit World.  Hopefully, members can bring lots of their friends.

Elder Lindley is now starting to crave fufu.  I am so proud.

I hope that all your weeks go well.  Enjoy conference.

   Love, Elder Warner Ashby
