Transfer news

Hey everyone and Happy Birthday Dad,

So for your questions.  Elder Vause's son's name is Norty-Annan.  From Takaradi, Ghana.  I will be able to personally talk with Elder Lindley about my International Drivers License because I will be going to the mission home to pick up my son on Wednesday.  I don't know who he is but there are 6 Americans and one Kenyan, so the odds of getting someone cool is 100%.  Not that it wouldn't be in another order.  But I will go to the mission home on Wednesday, eat Sister Cosgrave's food and meet my new young victim.  HeHe.  Sadly,  Elder Vause is leaving us.  He is being moved halfway through his son's training to be a ZL in Konongo zone. One of the elders from Bibiani will be coming and continue with Elder Norty-Annan's training   I think that is all the questions.  The rest will be answered shortly.

So this week was interesting being in a three-some.  On Tuesday, after district meeting, we took Elder Abu-Bonsra to the metro mass station and said good bye.  We then went home and moved our beds into the main room because that is the only spot for it.  I have picture of it, and hopefully I can send it today.  Trying to manage the areas all together didn't go as well as we hoped.  I think we might have had 2 or 3 lessons in my area.  But on the upside, Vause showed me one of his old investigators that we could never find, and he came to church for the first time.  He really enjoyed it too.  He is a very intelligent person and understands a lot of the doctrines.  I got to see the other area and interact with their investigators too which was nice.  The lessons that we had may not have been plenty, but we had many powerful lessons.

Sometime last week, one of those blister beetles walked across Elder Vause's hand while he slept and made a long acid burn on his hand.  He said it never hurt, but it made his hand reddish.  I keep telling him it is leprosy because I was reading in Jesus the Christ about leprocy and it matches.  That is why they are sending him far away to Konongo zone.  They are casting him out of the camp.
A picture of the "Blister Beetle" or 'Champion bug".
Sister Barney, the mission nurse, says that if it crawls in you, or you mess with it,
it releases acid that reacts with the skin. It causes blisters.
There is no pain at the time, so you don't even know that it's on you.
It's about the size of an ant. I "borrowed" the picture from Sister Barney.

On Saturday,  We had the All Africa Service project.  All the branches in Obuasi came to the government hospital and cleaned it.  The men used the cutlasses to cut the grass and bushes and the women swept and dusted.  It was good.  They really appreciated it.  I also got to see Mbiah and Kwaku and some of the guys I started teaching that Elder Allan baptized.  It was really cool.  That day is also when President called me to be a trainer.  It will be fun.

 All Africa Service Project Day

Today, we had a zone activity.  On Saturday, our companionship bought a goat for our fufu we wanted to eat.  Goats are not very cheap, but it was about 15 cedies for all the missionaries for a 210 cedi goat.  (That is approx. $5 per person for about 14 elders. Approx. $70 American dollars for the goat.) Today we killed and ate it.  We killed and skinned the goat so as not to eat the nasty burned skin again. We made sure it was done right. (if you look back through his letters to Sept. 30, 2014, you'll find the picture of the first goat they killed and ate.)  We played football while we waited.  The Fufu was so much.  All of us were dead after.  But the meat was amazing.  Probably the most meat I have eaten since coming.  And it wasn't small fufu either.  but I can proudly say I finished.

the goat was amazing! "Akuiwa Canterbeary" Yes, we named it when we bought it

Your camping trip sounded cool.  I have a question though,  did you paint the kitchen.  It looks nice.  or maybe I have been gone too long.

Anyway,  enjoy your week. Happy Birthday Dad.
Love Elder Warner Ashby

P.S. I got my packages and sadly Elder Adams leaves today.
