Misson tours

Hey family,
I am glad that your week went well. And that school transition went well.  So before I forget again.  I need a new oil vial.  Something that I can hook to my belt or to a key chain.  Somehow my last one got unscrewed and lost.  I don't know how but it did.  I have the oil, I just need the vial.

Last Monday, we traveled to Kumasi for the meeting with Elder Clayton.  We spent the night in one of the apartments.  It was Elder Lindley and I, and Elder Riplinger and his son, Elder Nagata, from Fiji.  We had fun talking, but there was nowhere for us to sleep, so we slept on the floor.  It was the only time I was excited for my alarm to go off.  None of us slept well.  The next day, we traveled to Bantama Chapel for the meeting.  When Elder Clayton arrived, we took pictures, (when I get it, I will send it to you) and then listened to him instruct us.  He talked about how we need to strengthen ourselves and be obedient in order to strengthen our wards and branches.  It was a good talk.  Afterwards, we talked with other missionaries.  Us six provo guys took a last picture because it was our last time all together.  Verdoni will be spoiling our group.  We then talked with other missionaries and left.  Today, we will go back and spend the night again for the mission tour with Elder Curtis tomorrow.

Last time all the Provo MTC group will be all together.
Elder Verdoni will leave for Liberia in about a week.

The week was pretty good.  Contacting was slow but we found some cool people.  One of the guys we contacted was cool but would not close his mouth to let us teach.  It was annoying, but we are hoping to be able to teach more effectively for later visits.  We weren't able to teach Ike's uncle this week because he had to attend a funeral.  Hopefully we can see him this week.  Our baptism didn't come on this week.  We couldn't find the guy this week.  But we did teach him yesterday.  So all that is left is for a parent to sign the form and get an interview.  We will be able to do all that and baptize him this week.

We will be trying to do some missionary youth activities for the youth in our branch.  We will be doing it because the branch doesn't really do activities and we want the youth involved.  We will be teaching hymns and watching my videos I have accumulated.  Sometimes we will play football.  We have been doing the same things for midweeks.

So technically my one year is not until Thursday, so my one year email will be next week.  But I have gained a more firmer testimony of scripture study.  I have enjoyed reading my scriptures every day and I have seen the blessings of it in the work.  I am currently reading Old Testament now.  It is amazing how fast you go through it after you get past the first 5 books of Moses.  I am also reading Jesus the Christ, which is really interesting.

So next week will be my official one year email.  One year down, another to go.  Not really sure how I feel.  Kind of all over the place.  But Ii just want to continue to work hard everyday.
I love you all.  Enjoy school.

Love, Elder Warner Ashby
