New president and transfers

Hey every one,

I am glad that your fourth of July went well. Thanks for the pics.  They were nice.  As for that fruit,  it kind of tastes like really sweet sugary candy.  New mission president seems cool.  We saw him on Friday.  He talked about obedience and consecration with us.  I think that he will be a pretty cool guy.

Transfers are pretty crazy this time.  I am leaving Asuoyeboa.  I am a little disappointed about about leaving because I have only been here 4.5 months.  But the crazy thing is that I will be going back to Obuasi.  I will be going to the other side of the city to re-open an area in branch 4 and I will be working with a stake missionary.  A stake missionary is just someone that mission president calls to work in the mission field for a little while as a substitute missionary.  I don't know if there is just an odd number of missionaries or what but it should be cool.  It is usually a person preparing for a mission.  I will be in the same apartment as Elder Vause, who will be training a missionary.  My companion, Elder Makuni, will also be training here.  Also Verdoni is training.

This week was cool.  Last week we got a referral from a member.  The person was taught about 3 years ago but is now ready.  He is excited about joining the church.  He will be baptized next Sunday.  I went on splits with the zone leaders this week.  I got to work with Elder Seyoum in his area.  It was cool.  I enjoyed working with him for a day and learned some things from him.  Bibiani also came over that night but we had told the zl's about it earlier and they made sure that they left after the meeting and split them between our apartments.

On Saturday, we went for a service project in the sisters area.  One of their recent converts invited us to help on his farm.  So we went and chopped the weeds around his farm with cutlasses (cool, he got to use a machete).  It was fun, but we could have had it done in half an hour with a mower.  After he gave us some rice ball, which was really good.  That day, Adams and I went to a chop bar for some fufu.  That is kind of how we celebrated the 4th.

It is hard to believe that Elder Packer is gone now.  He was getting pretty old though. Let me know when some new apostles get called.

Well, on Wednesday, I will go to metro mass to go to Obuasi.  I am excited to go back.  I can see some of my recent converts and maybe see some gold this time. (Obuasi has the 2 largest gold mines in Ghana)

Have a great week.  Enjoy all your camps and being home alone and such.

love you all,

Elder Warner Ashby
