Hooray, 2 months as of today. The other guys keep telling me of their 4 months or 10 months, but I will get there small small. Halloween sounds interesting back home. Here it was just another day. We walked to town to buy some watermelons and then had an FM
(free meal) of jolof rice. Carving watermelons are different. They are solid inside so you have to cut it out mostly. When you scape the sides, it comes out like watermelon barf. It was fun. We put them outside the next day because the fruit flies found them. It was gross.

Happy Halloween! No pumpkin??
Use a watermelon! |
Our apartment didn't change in transfers. Adams and Orji are still here. We think next transfer, Helgesen and Orji will leave. We were supposed to have a service project with an investigator's family on a farm, but the road to it closed and we have to wait a while for it to reopen. We got to watch the first session of conference yesterday. It was in Twi so I understood nothing and mainly zoned. But the the music was in English so that was cool.
Something that could be a miracle could be that Jonah, the guy with the stroke called and said he would be coming back to Obuasi this month. we will see him when he gets back to see how he is doing. hopefully he is improving.
(We asked in our email if he has seen any miracles)
We decided as an apartment that we would make hamburgers this week. We bought all the supplies today. Ground beef, cheese, rolls, french fries. It wasn't the cheapest thing but it is still less than a weeks amount of money so I will survive.
On a really happy note, MY BAG IS HERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! After one and a half months, I finally got it. My swedish fish weren't in a ball either, a bit dry, but still good. I shared some of them with the other guys.
(Yay!!!! We are so happy he has his carry on. It didn't arrive with in Ghana with him. He now has all of his study material and his Swedish fish!)

One happy Elder to have his missing Swedish fish!
One happy Mom to have his carry on bag returned to him! |
Other than that, not much has happened this week. We plan on working hard this week so next letter should be better. I was thinking that maybe you could send me a frosting recipe. Could that work with regular sugar, or could I crush the sugar, because powdered sugar is hard to come by here. If it could work, I would appreciate it. I plan to make my birthday cake using yellow cake pancakes and frosting to make a 10 or so layer cake, and eat cake batter of course.
(We will have to find him something that would work. He has interesting imagination)
I hope you guys have a fun week.
Love, Elder Warner Ashby
